Rotair helps say farewell to “Gracious Lady” — YN19

Mattituck, NY, 2 November 2013.  Today, Wes Harrington (R), President of Rotair Aerospace Corporation, and his sons, joined a small band of crusty old Marines to say farewell to Freedom’s Flying Memorial, YN19, affectionately known as the “Gracious Lady.”  She came by that moniker to honor the wife of  Al Weiss (L), President of the Association that has spent thousands of hours restoring and maintaining YN19 in airworthy condition.  Al wanted to thank his wife for indulging him in his passion for what the aircraft stands for — honoring our veterans.
But now YN19’s flying days are nearing an end.  Al wrote, “We would like to thank everyone who has come to see our helicopter over the years. YN-19 will be making its final flight on November 7, 2013, where it will be flown to the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, Virginia. The aircraft will be on display in the museum parking lot for a short period, before going to the restoration shop, where it will undergo additional restoration prior to going on display as part of the Marine Corps Museum’s collection.”

Farewell “Gracious Lady!”
